At a glance
You choose what to save and which lists to share. We use your information to run Nicksy, keep accounts safe, and deliver the features you request. Text messaging is always optional.
Who we are
Nicksy is a wishlist and gift-planning service operated by Robolab LLC, a privately owned, for-profit software company at 11 Cobb Lane, Commack, NY 11725, United States. This policy explains how we handle information when you use Nicksy and its optional text messaging features.
For privacy questions, contact nicksy@robolab.io or call 718-313-7707.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your email address, name, handle, profile biography, avatar, sign-in records, and account settings. If you choose Google sign-in when available, we receive the account identifier and profile information needed to sign you in.
- Things you save and share. Lists, recipient names and event dates you enter, product links, notes, quantities, gift claims and purchase status, reactions, follows, collaborator invitations, and reports. Invitations include the email addresses you provide.
- Optional phone information. If you enable texting, we collect your phone number, verification and consent records, and the messages you send us so we can process your requests. Our application delivery records store message identifiers, status, message type, and a protected hash of your number rather than the full text of each message.
- Service and security information. Necessary cookies, request and delivery logs, hashed identifiers used to limit abuse, and technical information such as IP addresses that hosting and delivery systems process when you connect.
- Product requests and images. Search terms, product URLs and filters, product results, and photos you submit for matching or as an avatar.
How we use it
We use information to create and protect your account, display your lists, coordinate gifts, process searches, match products, manage collaborations, and respond to support requests. We also use it to moderate content, investigate reports, prevent abuse, and maintain the service.
We send the transactional emails needed for sign-in, account deletion, invitations, shares, gift confirmations, moderation notices, and price alerts you enable. Optional SMS messages support phone verification and requests to save products by text. Nicksy does not send marketing texts.
What other people can see
Your profile and lists marked public can be seen by other people who can access Nicksy. Private lists are limited to the owner and accepted collaborators. Names, photos, recipient details, product notes, and other content you place on a public list can be visible with that list. Your account email and phone number are not displayed on your public profile.
Gift claims are hidden from the list owner by default. Owners can change the list setting to show claimed quantities or the claimers’ first names and handles. Collaborators do not receive claim details. Other visitors can see availability and their own claims, but not another giver’s identity. List owners can see who reacted to their picks; visitors see reaction totals.
Sharing a link or sending an invitation makes the relevant content available under the list’s access settings. Please share only information you have permission to share. People who can see content may keep their own copies.
Services that help Nicksy work
We use service providers for the following purposes:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts the application, database, images, and operational systems. Amazon SES processes recipient addresses and email content to deliver our messages. AWS End User Messaging and mobile carriers process phone numbers and message content to deliver optional texts. Core hosting is currently configured in the United States.
- OpenAI helps moderate submitted text and avatar images. We send the individual item being reviewed, without attaching account identifiers, email addresses, phone numbers, or surrounding list information. Anything you put in that item is still part of its content. Moderation decisions and review records are stored by Nicksy, and authorized reviewers may examine them.
- Channel3, when connected, receives product URLs, search terms and filters, product identifiers, or a processed photo to provide product matches, offers, and price tracking. We do not attach your account identity or contact information to these requests. We cache requests and product responses to avoid repeating lookups; photo cache keys contain a hash, not the photo bytes.
- Google, if you choose its sign-in option, handles that authentication flow under its own policies.
For some unsupported product links, Nicksy requests page metadata from the retailer. Product images may load directly from retailers or image hosts, which receive the usual browser connection information. Following a shop link takes you to that retailer’s service and privacy practices. Some links may earn Nicksy a commission.
Providers process the information needed for their services and may retain their own security or delivery records under their terms. We may also disclose information when required by law or needed to address fraud, security threats, or a request you make. We do not use advertising analytics trackers on Nicksy.
Your phone number and SMS consent
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, or consent records with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not provide this information for anyone else’s messaging program.
Limited information is processed by providers that deliver and secure Nicksy messages, including AWS and mobile carriers, only as needed to support this messaging service. The general descriptions of sharing elsewhere in this policy do not authorize sharing SMS consent for another party’s marketing.
Texting is optional and is not a condition of creating an account, using Nicksy, or making a purchase. You opt in through the separate SMS consent control in account settings and verify a number you control. Message frequency varies with your requests. Message and data rates may apply.
Reply STOP to cancel text messages, or HELP for help. You can also remove your phone number in account settings or contact nicksy@robolab.io. See the SMS terms for program details.
Retention and deletion
We keep account information and saved content while needed to provide your account. A deleted list is hidden immediately and scheduled for permanent cleanup after 30 days. Expired sign-in links, verification challenges, sessions, and temporary upload records are removed through routine maintenance.
Source photo uploads are removed after processing. Abandoned uploads become eligible for cleanup when their short upload permission expires. We keep a processed avatar while it is your profile image or awaiting moderation; replacing it or completing account deletion removes the associated stored image.
You can request account deletion in account settings and confirm it through email. Once deletion completes, we remove your account, owned lists and picks, associated claims, follows, reactions, and stored profile images; stop affected alerts; and remove identifying fields and content from moderation and report records. Picks you added to someone else’s list may remain with your account attribution removed.
Deletion does not instantly erase every operational record or backup. Shared product snapshots and lookup caches, delivery metadata, protected phone hashes, consent evidence, and de-identified moderation or report records may remain for service operation, security, and recordkeeping. Some of these records do not currently have a fixed deletion schedule. Backup copies and provider records may persist separately; we do not promise a fixed backup-erasure deadline.
Your choices and requests
In account settings, you can update your profile, export your account data, remove your phone number, and request deletion. List controls let you change visibility and claim settings; individual picks let you manage price alerts. Replying STOP lets you withdraw SMS consent without deleting your Nicksy account.
For help accessing, correcting, or deleting information, or to raise a privacy concern, email nicksy@robolab.io. We may ask you to verify that a request concerns your own account. We handle requests in accordance with applicable law and cannot disclose another person’s private information.
Nicksy is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review it and take appropriate action.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Nicksy changes. The effective date at the top identifies the current version. Material changes may also be communicated through the service or by email. A policy update does not replace separate consent required for text messaging.
